Chrome Extension Under Review and Not Available For Download
It doesn't seem like this is a very reliable tool, which is a shame because it is an amazing idea and I really hope they manage to fix the issue soon. Maybe instead of relying on an automatic selection there should be a way to select the available subtitles from a dropdown. For example - are you getting conflicts with other types of subtitles. Such as "Language [CC]" and "Language" showing up on the same video file. Or other unanticipated conflicts?
Actually, it's a very reliable tool. Many thousands of lessons get imported every day, most of them using the import extension. Yes, the odd lesson doesn't work because there is something different about it. Then, if it gets reported to us, we can figure out why it didn't work, and adjust the extension so that it works in the future.
Sorry I didn't mean to be overly critical, my bad! I just tried a couple of imports that failed and then I saw a number of threads about the chrome extention not working so I was kind of upset because I was really thrilled to start working with this tool.
Tommouse...make a separate post about the issue you've had. Zoran often will come back with an answer. Even, if it's simply to say it may be a site the developers need to look at. Some sites may simply not import. I've had plenty of success importing articles from the web (news sites, magazine sites, etc.). Youtube...everything I've tried so far. Netflix as well.
Great I will do that thanks. My problem was with Netflix and it seemed a lot of people were having a similar issue so I didn't post another separate thread. I switched over to the Firefox addon instead and that worked fine too. Nice to know the dev keeps an eye on the situation though so that's great :) Any problems I have in the future I will come and do just that. Thanks x
hi im having issues when importing from Netflix using chrome
Was this fixed?
I just downloaded the extension today and it's stuck on Spanish as the only language option (I'm learning Spanish now but would like to learn French as well). Also after it says it "imports" to LingQ there is no lesson.
Then sometimes this error happens, "Error: No appropriate captions found" even thought I selected Spanish as the CC.
It was fixed while ago, however we are currently experiencing issues with the Chrome extension. We are going to push a new version with fix soon, and as soon as Google approves it, please update the extension and problem will be solved. Thanks for your patience.
Do you know roughly when it will be fixed? Just tried again now and it still seems broken (
@gregplail Do you have the latest version installed (1.7.19)? We pushed an update with the fix on September 16th.
Hi guys. Seems to be broken again.
Error:ERROR: qeddzIIqR_E: YouTube said: Unable to extract video data
Tried for multiple videos but the one above is
I like watching the SHERLOCK Holmes tv series. The series uses clear English. It's convenient when exploring.
I have also had these problems intermittently.
But now It is ok
I've been having problems for about 3-4 days with the Chrome Extension "unable to parse". It says I need to get the "upgraded extension" but when I go to the extension page, it doesn't give me an option to download, indicating that I've already downloaded it. I go over to Safari and have the same problem. Please advise what I should. Earlier in the work it was working fine.
I have also had these problems intermittently. We are looking into it. But, after reloading, or closing and opening a new tab or importing from a different source it all seems to work. Make sure to use the newest Safari extension as well if you aren't doing so. Anyway, keep trying and then it seems to work. Sorry about this.
The extension has (finally) been approved!
The Chrome Extension review process seems to have no end so we have posted the extension for manual download here: https://www.lingq.com/lingq-importer-chrome-extension/. We apologize for any inconvenience. This latest version should fix many issues associated with Youtube and Netflix import.
Hi Mark, if we have an importer extension installed already do we need to uninstall it first, or do we just follow the instructions to the letter and it will replace the existing extension? Thanks.
This is still broken, I cannot import anything from Youtube, error message " Error:0: Subtitles did not found "
please resolve this
Importing YouTube videos seems to be repeating each subtitle line 3x. I've tried with Chrome and Firefox extension. Its basically impossible to read anything. Any idea what's going on / is it related?
Can you please send example video where you noticed that issue? Thanks!
Any video I'm importing in Russian, it seems to do it.
If it could be fixed asap that would be appreciated as I can' really use the service without going through and deleting lines.
Thanks for all the details. I reported the issue to our team and they will look into it.
Seems to be fixed now. Thanks again.
OK, it's now broken again, and doesn't import at all, stating the the " Error:0: Subtitles did not found " message.
i have one from before, but when i try to upload one from netflix i get an error saying not a valid string, has anyone had this error before?
I am also having this problem when I try to import Chinese subtitles from Netflix. Either I get the error "text: Not a valid string," or "No appropriate captions found." I hope this can be fixed since importing videos from Netflix was one of the major reasons I paid for a year's subscription. I am considering asking for a refund for the remaining time on my subscription if this can't be fixed. I love LingQ but most of the stock content in Chinese is no longer of interest to me as I'm a relatively advanced learner. I have tried using the import app on both Chrome and Firefox and I get the same error. I took some screenshots but it doesn't look like I can post them here.
I'll check that with our team straight away.
The problem appears to be fixed now. Many thanks!
Netflix now works with the safari Lingq importer. Thanks! However, when I try importing from Viki, I still get an "Import failed" message.
still not working, when i try to import cc from netflix it says either:
-not a valid string
- No appropriate captions found. Available languages are: arabo, spagnolo, portoghese brasilian
I'm facing the same situation with Netflix and Viki (on safari, chrome and firefox)
I downloaded the chrome extension on Feb 20 from this site: It works perfectly. Not sure if this is useful. If not, please delete. Thank you.
Thanks for the info. I noticed that the warning message on the site sends everybody to Italian domain (/en/learn/it/), which in turn adds a language to the user's profile.
Good point. I've taken that link down for now until we get a better solution.
That link has now been fixed. We will look into fixing all forum urls so we no longer have this problem in future!
will the extension ever be restored to full functionality? I don’t care for which browser as long as imports are working again.
The latest version should also now be available at the Chrome Web Store. It should be working properly. What isn't working for you?
Everything works fine with Netflix but not with česka Televize.
Error: 0: ERROR: Unable to extract iframe player url; please report this issue on https://yt-dl.org/bug . Make sure you are using the latest version; see https://yt-dl.org/update on how to update. Be sure to call youtube-dl with the --verbose flag and include its complete output.
Importing from this side worked well before the crash.
Thanks, I've passed that along to our team.
The import works again but with longer videos only part 1 is being importet.
I would like it to grab the complete subtitle file again. Could you check again, what can be done? Many thanks.
@ramonek Please note that sometimes there is a delay and other parts take more time to import. Please check again now and let me know if complete subtitles were imported successfully.
@zoran You are right. It is working now.
