Adding new languages (like Urdu)
In May of 2020, I asked a Lingq representative when they would add Urdu. He replied saying "We do have it in our plans and we hope to have it added this summer."
It's been 18 months since that conversation and there's no Urdu. Any update on when that will be added? Thanks!

I mean I literally think that if we want to see new languages on LingQ, we have to be willing to source the materials and put the Mini Stories together ourselves, if we want it badly enough. At least if we can get the native speakers to lend their voices and we can send the Mini Stories to LingQ, there's at least something with which we can say that the ball's in their court. The best way to receive is to give.

Hi, the date is 25 October 2022, and Urdu has not yet been added. This is just a hunch, but I am hypothesizing that it will arrive in the First Quarter of 2023. It's okay, since I have my hands full in the meantime. :-)

It is now March 2022. This is the month when we get the new languages. It has been a long wait but hopefully it will have been worth it.

I'm hoping that Swahili will be among the 'new intake' of languages that we have coming up.
I submitted Mini Stories + audio for stories 21-60 last week - LingQ already had stories 1-20!
I know that there are few folks waiting for Swahili...and believe that Steve himself mentioned it in one of his videos as an African language he might tackle!

Hi, as you know we've been focusing on LingQ 5.0 release and of course we continue to optimize, but we're also planning on adding new languages. Urdu is actually one of the languages we are working on. will update on new languages' status very soon.

Velibor, might be. For each language to be added we need to have high quality Mini Stories, News Sources and Grammar Guide. we're working on them but if anyone can provide each of these requirements it would be a great help.

"only might be"? I was under the impression that Hindi was ready to go after the launch of Lingq 5 . Can you please confirm whether or not Hindi is going to be added before the end of March.

That's likely the case, but "after the launch of Lingq 5" can mean anything between now and Armageddon. There's no set date, there are a lot of technical kinks that the developers are tying to get out of the system as a priority because they need to think about performance before they start adding more and more new content.

I'm sure that if you can encourage someone to contribute content in your target language, this would serve as incentive for the content team to take the necessary steps to adding new slots.

I provided an extensive list of News Sources and other content and one addition to the intermediate stories for Hindi over a year ago. I believe they had the Mini Stories. But I'm not sure about the current progress.

based on recent comments on the forum, they will release the new 5.0 first, continue to optimize, and then introduce more languages.
Personally, I would not expect it any time soon. You might want to look elsewhere for the time being.

Yes, I've also been waiting on Urdu to be added. I assumed that they were going to add it along with the forthcoming update, but I never see or hear any official announcements as to what's going on and what will or won't be included in the future.
