In the cloud or on the cloud

I have some important files “in” or “on” the cloud?

I don’t know which preposition I should use.

How about this one? I’ve just uploaded some files “in”, “on”, “to”, “into” the cloud?
I’m so confused.

yep, it certainly seems arbitrary. I think the generally accepted expression is that you keep or store important files in the cloud (like you would store paper files in a filing cabinet), but some people say they store them on the cloud. You upload (or back up) your files to the cloud and download them from the cloud. But again, some people say they back up their data on the cloud or in the cloud.
