Depends what you think is interesting

A: Is there anything interesting?
B: Depends what you think is interesting.

Question: After depends, is it okay to use “on” in the sentence? Or there’s no need?
“Depends on what you think is interesting” is weird?

Thank you!!!

They’re the same! You’ll hear both, you’ll use both, and you may even hear something more like “depends what you think’s interesting.”

yeah, “Depends what you think is interesting” is just a more informal, ‘shorthand’ way of saying, “It depends on what you think is interesting” or “It depends on what you mean by ‘interesting’” (which is how I would say it). I put it that way because I don’t want you to get the impression that saying “It depends on . . .” is “more formal.” It’s not, really. It’s just not as informal.
