This sentence was in a lesson about expressions of sympathy. I don’t quite understand the meaning? In German we have an expression: Nichts wird so heiß gegessen, wie es gekocht wird. Does this fit? Or did I miss the meaning?
Could it be something like “you cannot do anything about it, that is how the world is” ?
