Hey there,
I´m trying to translate the phrase “起き な よ いい加減” …
Get up な よ irresponsible…^^
What does "な よ " mean in this context? “do not be”, maybe?
Hey there,

I feel like this is missing something… maybe it should be written as:
起きないよいい加減。
So… “[If you] don’t get up, it is irresponsible.”
I’m not really sure what it could be otherwise.
Hmmm…“な よ” and “ないよ” are almost indistinguishable, so I guess you´re right.
Once again, Thanks for your help
Get up!
Other examples:
=Do your homework, OK?
=Get to work now!
@Hitomi - So 「なよ」 can be used as an abbreviation of 「なさいよ」? Thanks for the explanation and examples!
That’s right.
Note: It may sound too strong. I don’t use it to my friends but to my husband and daughter
“I don’t use it to my friends but to my husband and daughter ;)”
I heard “起き な よ いい加減” in a movie called “時をかける少女” or something like that.^^
It´s used by a girl to wake up her sister. I guess Animes are more realistic than some people say.
Thanks for your explanation
Paule, I am quite amazed that you have seen such an old movie from my time
Yes, I’d say that to my siblings too.
“…such an old movie from my time :)”
The story seems to be a classic. According Wikipedia, there are four movies, one TV-series, one anime and one manga, which have been released between 1972 and 2010.
Four movies, I see! I like the original author, Yasutaka Tsutsui, his novels are always very interesting and somewhat strange.
