I don’t understand why it’s l’auront and not just auront

Hi, it’s a complicated issue. I think 99% of francophones including me add the “l” automatically without understanding why they should do so. I guess I found an explanation in the “Dictionnaire des difficultés de la langue française” by Adolphe V. Thomas, édition Larousse:
“Le” pronom neutre complément.
Quand il se rapporte à quelque chose qui suit, il est facultatif : “Je le savais bien que vous viendriez”=“Je savais bien que vous viendriez”.
Quand il se rapporte à quelque chose qui précède il est obligatoire pour donner un complément au verbe. Ici il remplace “dépensées”.
