How would you translate “Todeshast”?
The meaning is, that he is about to die. I think, he can’t swim. So he kind of panics and acts very quick. Maybe he is even faster than under normal circumstances.
The word consists of two parts:
- death = Tod,
of death = Todes - haste, hurry = Hast (Eile)
The word “Todeseile” has the same meaning, but sounds a little bit more modern, in my opinion.
