What’s the difference between pronounce and announce?
To ‘pronounce a word’ is to say it using particular sounds, for example “table” - [teibl]
to ‘announce’ is to proclaim, to make known publicly, to make a public statement, for example: The government announced it on TV and in the press.
To add, ‘pronounce’ is also used in the same way as ‘announce’ in certain situations.
‘I now pronounce you man and wife.’
‘I pronounce you guilty.’
‘I pronounce this is the best steak i’ve ever eaten.’
