Importing Books from Kindle

Hello. Is it still possible to import books from Kindle? I followed the instructions the best I could; I could not access the URL for the book. And the three little dots I was told to click on are nowhere to be found. Thanks.

If you have no luck with Calibre, maybe you could consider an alternative on Epubor, here there was a previous discussion: https://www.lingq.com/en/community/forum/open-forum/found-sure-method-to-import-ki

Thanks, I’m open to give anything a try. It’s just that I don’t have much technical experience.

I have gone back in and spent a couple more hours on this Calibre/plugin method. I got as far as:

ERROR: Unhandled exception: InvalidPlugin:The plugin in ‘C:\Users\tgmbi\Downloads\DeDRM_tools_7.1.0.zip’ is invalid. It does not contain a top-level init.py file

By the time I get this figured out I could have read the book!

I was just able to import a Kindle book into LingQ on my macbook.

  1. On Amazon, under Your Account, I clicked Content & Devices
  2. Then clicked Books
  3. To the right of your desired e-book, click More Actions
  4. Download & transfer to USB
  5. Choose your Kindle device (even though it will download to your computer) and click Download. This will download the awz3 file
  6. Convert the awz3 file into an epub (or PDF, DOCX, TXT, MOBI, SRT, ASS, VTT, TTML). I prefer epub because it formats well. I used cloudconvert[dot]com to convert. It was free and easy
  7. Click Import on LingQ Library and then e-book
  8. Select your file
