German is no different. In fact, German songs are a great way to help you get to know the language a better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The more you listen, the more words and phrases will stick in your ear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are six of my favorite German songs from a wide range of styles, along with a neat phrase from each one to show you the language-learning aspect. <strong>I\u2019ve ordered them roughly from easiest to hardest<\/strong>, though of course that\u2019s subjective.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Beatles \u2013 Sie Liebt Dich<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><iframe title=\"Sie liebt dich (Remastered 2009)\" width=\"870\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YmjnK4zTBhM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know the Beatles released two of their own songs in German while they were living in Hamburg? They strongly preferred singing in English, so that\u2019s why we don\u2019t have a full German collection of their songs. It\u2019s actually a cover of a wildly popular Hungarian song called <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gy\u00f6ngyhaj\u00fa l\u00e1ny <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Girl with Pearls in her Hair.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tage und Tr\u00e4ume\u2026 mit dir\u2026<\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Days and dreams\u2026 with you&#8230;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>AnnenMayKantereit \u2013 Nicht Nichts<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><iframe title=\"Nicht Nichts - AnnenMayKantereit\" width=\"870\" height=\"489\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FiY2wMlHV9Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnnenMayKantereit is a relatively famous group from Cologne that somehow hasn\u2019t achieved much popularity outside of Germany. Once you listen to lead singer Henning May\u2019s voice, you\u2019ll wonder why as well. This is the first song of theirs I heard, and the unique feeling of frustrated helplessness in the lyrics will never get old.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8230;und \u00e4rger mich, weil ich immer liegen bleibe\u2026<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2026 and get mad at myself, because I just keep lying there&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Von Eden \u2013 Land In Sicht<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><iframe title=\"Von Eden - LAND IN SICHT (Official FEUCHTGEBIETE Version) 2013 [HD]\" width=\"870\" height=\"489\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vN3nq4sBk6I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This song was written and performed for the film <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Feuchtgebiete<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Wetlands), in which the lead singer of Von Eden also has a key role. The band even made a quick guitar tutorial<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kwJCHDkXMhY\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and put it on YouTube<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 of course, it\u2019s all in German!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8230;und meinetwegen!<\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2026 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and all because of me!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Liederjan &#8211; Die Weber<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><iframe title=\"liederjan - die weber\" width=\"870\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RrlpZD25eEY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an old folk song that a professor of mine introduced me to in a literature course. It\u2019s based on a nineteenth-century poem in honor of some Silesian weavers who rose up in protest of industrialization. Most German lyric websites offer English translations. You can add these translations into LingQ so you don&#8217;t have to worry if the translations in your lesson are a bit off.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, go to the Clips tab and add your translation under each clip.
