That\u2019s kind of the point!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And nobody wants to hang out for long with someone who speaks like a textbook. Think of it more like \u201cwild\u201d or \u201cunbelievable.\u201d As an interjection, it can take the place of English \u201cNo way!\u201d or \u201cWhoa!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Und dann sind die Polizei gekommen! Wie krass war dass den?<\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then the police came! How crazy was that?!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Alter <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Your textbook will give you two definitions for this word \u2013 and neither is the same as the English \u201cto alter,\u201d I\u2019m afraid. So expensive!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By the way, if you find yourself in Vienna, you can instantly win major points with the locals by using the word <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oida! <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">instead. (too long, not read).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mensch, du hast ein echtes aufsatz geschrieben. zl;ng<\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dude, you practically wrote an essay. TL;DR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note that my informal German examples are written without any capitalization at all.
