Time for some Streaming with These German YouTubers

YouTube is HUGE. And if you’re not using it to learn German, you’re missing out.

We’ve picked out five different YouTube genres, covering a variety of interests. All of these people speak clearly enough and have good enough audio quality for you to be able to follow what they’re saying – as long as you’ve got the words!

Popular German YouTubers

Gaming: Gronkh

If you want one German gaming channel to cover them all, your choice is clear. Gronkh has videos about tons of different kinds of gaming content. Mobile, PC, console, even tabletop, he’s played them all and will happily tell you all about them. Many of his playlists have over a hundred videos for a single game!

Science / Knowledge: Kurzgesagt

Kurzgesagt literally means “said briefly,” and that’s exactly what this channel of explainer videos does. Science, history, politics and more all get condensed into entertaining little animations for your viewing and learning pleasure. Also, all videos have closed captions in German, so you can read and listen along at the same time.

There actually aren’t a ton of videos (fewer than 50 at the moment of publication) but they’re all done with the same voice actor and style, providing you some well-needed consistency for studying.

Fitness: Sophia Thiel / Johannes Luckas

It was so hard to choose between these two channels so we put them both on here. Here you’ve got a choice between fitness aimed at women and fitness aimed at men. Both of these German YouTubers put out a ton of videos regularly – and most importantly, they talk a lot in them!

Definitely check out their nutrition videos too. It’s not just workouts with these folks, it’s an entire lifestyle.

Music: MusikTraining

Music is such a broad subject that you have to look hard to find someone who can cover a lot of different aspects. But that’s exactly what happens at MusikTraining. Some of it is tutorials, but others go much deeper into what makes a song good and what exactly a particular artist is doing technically. His videos are accessible for even casual fans, and they might make you want to pick up an instrument yourself!

Tech: SemperVideo

If you click on SemperVideo’s channel, head over to the playlists and you’ll find neatly organized lists about different types of software for different platforms. Looking for more gadget-type stuff? Try out Sparmag, a duo focused mostly on phones but also on laptops, mobile watches, and other tech stuff.

Looking For More German YouTubers?

If you want to find more German YouTubers, it’s easy. You just need to search for whatever hobbies or interests you would normally look for on YouTube, but in German. And here’s the best part – if you don’t know the proper German word, you can just type the English word and add the word “Deutsch” to your query!

Learn German Faster Using LingQ

Immersing yourself in German doesn’t require you to travel abroad or sign up for an expensive language program.

However, it can be a bit tiresome to find interesting content, go back and forth between sites, use different dictionaries to look up words, and so on.

That’s why there’s LingQ. A language app that helps you discover and learn from content you love.

For example, you can import any of the videos I mentioned above into LingQ for a better learning experience.
