Question:free-range food
Term:free-range
Lesson: Interesting Thing of the Day, Slow Food
What does it means free-range food?
"Free range" refers to animals that are allowed to wander about for at least part of the day, grazing, or scratching for some of their food, etc.--chickens, pigs, and the like. This is opposed to animals, such as chickens, cooped up all day, unable to wander about, and so getting little if no exercise. It does not refer to carrots. ("To range" or "to range about" is a verb.)
Thanks Ernie, good explanation.
