LingQ Forum

It looks like you are using an old version of Internet Explorer (IE6). We do our best to support IE6, but the site will work much better if you use a more up to date browser. We strongly recommend you upgrade to:

Alex and others,

You can download the mp3 files of the TED talks from here:
http://blog.ted.com/2010/06/17/audio_podcasts/

Hope it helps
Thanks, Oscar. This sure does make it easier to get those audio files :)
Alex, I've gone to the site Oscar suggested (thank you, Oscar); but there is still a problem that I don't know how to solve. In that site we find the links for the audios, but, when we click on the links, the audio is open directly on the player, and there isn't a page whose link I could copy to give the information here. I copied the audio to my computer, is there a way to upload it here directly from my computer?
When importing a lesson, there's the option to upload an audio file right beneath the "Text" section. Just click on "Choose file" or "Browse..." then locate the file on your computer and upload it.

For more detailed information, be sure to check out the Import Help page (http://www.lingq.com/help/import/).
Zinda, what Alex said is the best way to do it. Anyway, in case you want to save the mp3 in your computer, have you tried to click with the right mouse button over the link and select "Save link as..."?
Yes, Oscar, I'd already done it, what I didn't know how to do was import the video to here. But I found out. Thank you very much. The lesson is already in the Library. It is worthy to see it, it is very interesting to see what another species can do when stimulated.
Zinda, could you please tell us what the link is to the collection in the library?
I am not sure, because I firstly save to my lessons, and them I shared it. But the name of the lesson stars with TED Talks, and afterthat it comes : Susan Savage-Rumbaugh on apes. And the link to the lesson, in my list of lessons, is that:

http://www.lingq.com/learn/en/workdesk/item/214...
Don't worry, the lesson shows up in your Recent Activity on your profile page. By the way, to share the lesson URL, make sure to grab the URL from the bottom that ends in "/buy/".
Thank you, Alex. So, this is the link, Oscar: http://www.lingq.com/learn/en/store/62453/13905.... And thank you for inviting me as a friend, I have already accepted.
If you are interested in animal comunication and in neuroscience, I have a lot of interesting lectures in video on my computer, but I must see wheter I can find the text and the audio for them. I don't know if they are copyrighted, either, though they'are in YouTube. But I can always put the links on your page.
What about article directories like Ezine Articles?

They have a huge amount of articles in a wide range of topics.
The learners could choose the topics that they are interested in and the providers could record the lessons.

Usually these article directories do not bother about copying their content once you mention the original link of the article.

By the way, there are article directories in many languages.

Just have to be careful with the 'ads' in the middle of the article.

Either way, the provider could just read many articles on one topic, select ideas and create his own unique articles. This should not be difficuld since the person is reading about a topic that he has interest in.
Learning English, an article read with my pronounciation in English would not be good for persons trying to learn Englis... But I will try to find this directory, to find good articles to read. Thank you very much.
And, if someone agrees in doing the audio, I can upload the texts.
http://www.youtube.com/user/SubtitledRusMovies

Awesome Russian movie page. They have lots of modern films with a variety of subtitles (including English and Russian).
Helo,

Is it possible to add scansions for the latin poems?
It would be nice.

Thanks.
There are some simple rules for scansions which could be explained in the lesson notes and then it's just listening, listening and listening. I'll see if I can start a collection of poems to exemplify the verse patterns.
I was said that TED Talks allows LingQ to import theirs talks. If so, why TED is not in the list of the providers? I had already imported and share lessons from there, but now I don't succed anymory in sharing, only as private, because TED is not in the list, and only stuff from providers that are in the list can be shared. There are very interesting speeches there.
@Zinda - I've replied to your post in another thread: http://bit.ly/qGjcY1

To clarify, though, you are free to add a new provider if a provider doesn't appear on the list. Just be sure that either (1) the content isn't copyrighted or (2) if it is copyrighted, that you have been given permission to upload it on LingQ.
I have just listened to the Catulli carmina and must say that the readers barely respect the rules for stressed (long) syllables. It's as if the reader was reading prose.
Alex, I clicked in the link to suggest TED as a new provider - and I came here... And I still don't succed in sharing my lessons from TED, only as private. I have three lessons that could be in the library, and they are interesting, but... when I press share, it comes In the LingQ, I click, and it already comes as private...
The link to Swedish resource 8 Sidor has on the page
http://www.lingq.com/learn/sv/import/contents/?add
no longer works. Please update http://8sidor.lattlast.se/ to http://www.8sidor.se/
Fixed, thanks!
Alex, could you add Euronews as a resource for all the available languages we have on LingQs (Polish, Arabic, Turkish among others)?
Sure thing, I'll add this in a bit.
Eli edizioni, an Italian publisher, issues graded magazines in several languages (meant for school teachers and students):

http://www.elionline.com/elimagazines/

The magazines are not free, of course, but they are not too expensive. They have them for English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Latin.

This is the website where they can be bought: http://eli.pdn.ipublishcentral.com/

It may be useful if you added this resource for all the languages.
Does anyone have an idea on what to import as a beginner's course for Hebrew?
I know the alphabet, but that is it.
