Dutch accents variation

Hallo allemaal! Ho gaat het met je? Ik hoop dat je op 2014 veel success met je talenleren hebben. Gelukkig nieuwjaar!

I’m bit curious about how the dutch varies over the Netherlands, like what makes it dialect/accent unique, what marks each of these accents.

I’m trying to get the Rotterdam accent, but I’d like to know what changes in terms of phonetics sounds in Amsterdam, Urecht, and if possible, about the southern and northern Netherlands.

Is it true that in Rotterdam they say [ai] instead of [ɛi] in blijf? Does it sound like [blaif] or [blɛif]? Also, do the say the UI in “lui” like [ɛy] instead of [œy]?

Do the rotterdam people use a rounded [ɑ] for both [ɑ] and [a]?

I’m still thinking about how the dutch can make the [h] voiced… There’s no way I can do this, I try and what comes out of my mouth is a [r] or a [x]… o_o

Dank je weer!
