Hey Alex thanks for answering my questions recently. I can’t find any explanation for 구요 which explains it’s usage here.

고(요) is just the -고 that means “and”. 구요 is just a slight variant of 고(요). From my experience it’s more common in Seoul than other places, and typically used more by females than males (though is not incorrect usage for males).

When introducing myself, I might say 안녕하세요. 저는 알렉스이구요 캐나다 사람이에요.

I’m not a big fan of the 구 so I never use it.

I’m a 고 kind of guy.
