Why "your teeth" referring to people

Question:Why "your teeth" referring to people
Term:your teeth
Lesson: Breaking News English, Energy Drinks Irreversibly Damage Teeth
In the sentence "The doctors advised people to wait at least an hour before brushing YOUR teeth." why is it used YOUR instead of THEIR, referring to people? (pl)
Woud it be an error, or wieard, to use instead "The doctors advised people to wait at least an hour before brushing THEIR teeth."

BTW: it's only referring to brushing your teeth after acid drinks, not usual sugar food or drinks
(unwilling to be responsible for more tooth decay)
.
Thank you very much
You are right. But sometimes, people do speak like that, mixing direct and indirect speech.
