What is pronounced between 2 and 3 in "2 - 3" phrase in this text?

What is pronounced between 2 and 3 in “2 - 3” phrase in this text? I can’t hear tone and it might be “ji” as well as “zhi” for me.

It’s a way to say 2 “to” 3… You’ll also see 到 used in the same way.

Sometimes two numbers will be said back to back, like 两三个月 which means 2 “or” 3 months, but Chinese is simple and doesn’t need anything in between here.
