“ma” is like a question mark. A bit like “huh” in the US or “eh” in Canada . but only a bit, since it is a real word implying a question.
In fact,that does not have meaning.
It is a character to agree with your tune or modal of conversation.
In this circumstance,‘你好嗎?’ ‘嗎’ works as to signify a question asking ‘How are you doing?’ to make it sensible.
And,i have to confess it as these Interjections in Chinese baffle learners of it a lot.
