I don’t really quite understand this meaning 师傅…master or qualified worker for a taxi driver?
You got it right( ＾∀＾)A master or qualified worker is the literally meaning. AND:
1.Sometimes you wanna ask a stranger something,you can call him 师傅,but only someone elder,and it doesn’t have to be a taxi driver,for example,a shopkeeper,a passer-by…
2.And do not use this word to someone you familiar with(or just an acquaintance),such as your friend’s old man,it doesn’t polite.
3.老师(teacher)≠师傅.You can and only can learn knowledge from a teacher,but 师傅 is more like a godfather,he bacame some sort of a family.
PS my English is just intermediate please don’t hesitate to point out my flaws.
