"Facetiously" does not come from "face."

“‘I suppose that means he won’t do exactly what you want,’ suggested the doctor facetiously. The missionary did not smile.”–RAIN by W. Somerset Maugham

Did you know that the word “facetiously” has nothing to do with the word “face”? According to the dictionary, “facetious” means “treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humour.”
What a complicated meaning it has! Do you happen to have spoken facetiously on some occasions?

Regularly.

You know, I have no idea how this word is pronounced.

Just think along the lines of “The Sound of Music”: “fa”, a long, long way to go; “c”, you see I told you so! and then simply add the “shissly” and you won’t be far out from RP
