If only!

If only there’d be activity points given for procrastination!

Edited for a change of heart as to syntax.

Great excuse, I shall!

I’ll procrastinate later…

I have a question.
What characters are hiding between “there” and “d”? Are they “woul” or “shoul”?

Although my reply is rather quick in coming, I am glad you are helping me in my procrastination activities. Today my main focus will be on not learning Swedish. Yes, the hidden characters are “woul”.

Thank you, SanneT.
I think I have no imagination. I cannot come up with any phrases that would follow “If only.”

Perhaps it has nothing to do with lack of imagination, perhaps you are content and don’t feel the need to say “if only XYZ happened (would happen), then I’d be content.”.

Perhaps I am content, or perhaps I want too many things.

Would I could tell you, but I’d have to be a mind reader to get it right.

“Would I could tell you”
Could you paraphrase this expression?

If only I could…

Umm . . .

I am not being cryptic. It really does mean it (or you could also say “I wish I could tell you”.

Umm. I wonder if it is from the following phrase.
I would tell you X, if I could tell you X.

HmmHmm (head nodding in agreement), that phrase fits the meaning. I would tell you if I could. Or, in the sense of “I would tell you if I were allowed to tell you”.

IF ONLY LingQ would be completely stable and without any bugs, and LingQ-HQ would not change this stable state for some years…
