Little English towns

I recently came across a truly wonderful youtube channel which gives a glimpse into provincial English life. (I myself have lived in several of these places - I won’t say exactly which ones.)

Exeter: A Couple of Minutes in Exeter - YouTube

Sherbourne: A Couple of Minutes in Sherborne - YouTube

Canterbury: A Couple of Minutes in Canterbury.mpg - YouTube

York: A Couple of Minutes in York.mpg - YouTube

Lewes: A Couple of Minutes in Lewes - YouTube

Salisbury: A Couple of Minutes in Salisbury - YouTube

(Freeze at 1:58 - as a boy I passed through this gate many many times…)

And not to leave out Scotland, here’s one for Colin:

Inverness: A Couple of Minutes in Inverness - YouTube

(There are more…)

I grew up watching “Last of the Summer Wine.” I’d definetly like to spend a summer wandering those hills of Yorkshire someday.

Thanks, Jay! It’s very interesting.

Therefore am I still
A lover of the meadows and the woods,
And mountains; and of all that we behold
From this green earth; of all the mighty world
Of eye, and ear . . .

Glad you liked the links, guys.

(Seeing some of these places again sure brings back memories for me…)

Thanks Jay. These places are very beautiful. Everything is very classic and aesthetic. As Poirot movies, but with modern cars. England is a wonderful country. Thanks you.

What can I say: lovely, very lovely indeed

Tha inbhir nis cathair gu h-alainn, tapadh leat a charaid!

England is so beautiful, as is the entirety of the British Isles, and if you include Ireland and Scotland, it’s difficult if not impossible to describe them. I can say however that it is an incredibly rich place historically, which can be seen everywhere.

Brilliant thread! We need more like these…
