I don’t understand how “var vanlig och las lektionen”. translates to please read the lesson. doesn’t var mean where to, and vanlig mean friendly. how Is that sentence making sense?
“Var vänlig och…”+imperative equals “Please”+imperative, as simple as that. And of course “var” is itself the imperative of “to be”, so:
(Would you please) be nice and read the lesson.
