Translation Help: The last part of this sentence beginning with “und auch…” I do not understand the word “soweit” used here. I am wondering if the verb is “umgekommen” also.

Zum Glück kommen selten Menschen ums Leben und auch diesmal ist es hier zum Glück auch nicht soweit gekommen.

Zum Glück = Luckily
kommen selten Menschen ums Leben = people die rarely
und auch = and … as well
diesmal = this time
ist es hier = it is here
zum Glück auch = luckily too (please notice how “auch” is emphasized in the audio)
nicht gekommen = hasn’t come
soweit = to this extent

Luckily people die rarely and this time as well it hasn’t come to this extent here luckily. (I hope this makes sense in English).

Thanks Vera. I understand now what you are saying, I just need to better understand what a real German means when they say it. We in America would say this a bit differently so it is nice to see how you would say it. I did not notice the emphasis on “auch” so I will listen again. Thanks for the incites.
