Yes please for Ancient Greek! I just posted about this a few days ago in an old thread.

I cannot read Greek at all (ancient or modern), but the further I go in my philosophy study the more I wish I knew some.

looks great, but combining the content with lingqs system would be killer. Of course, it would be especially cool if we could get some Greek people to read out some of Platos dialogues etc, even if we have no way of knowing for sure how Ancient Greek actually sounded.

I don't think modern Greeks would pronounce Ancient Greek better than any foreigners having studied it, since the modern language is quite different.

Instead of considering boycotting LingQ, why don't you start "campaigning" for people to vote for it on the Facebook poll?

I don't want to migrate to another website, because I like LingQ and I'm grateful to what has been done so far, even if I disagree with this decision. Greek is not a priority for me now, so I'll just go on inviting people to vote for it an for the other languages.

I saw a video of Professor Arguelles the other in which he states that one advice he gives to learners of Ancient Greek is to try and master Modern Greek first. I haven't had the chance to ask him to expand on this topic, but I'd love to know exactly why he thinks so.

I don't know... I studied Ancient Greek first and then Modern Greek. I'm much better at the former and I don't really like the latter, since it's too simplified. Anyway, I would still like to learn it.

Here is our position. We regularly get comments from users complaining about the lack of resources in our Beta languages. These people do not understand why we offer a language with so few resources. Look at Hebrew for example. It makes us look bad.

Our goal is to make LingQ grow so that if we approach publishers of excellent content for Classical Greek or any other language, they will want to work with us to offer their material. Then we will have a first class Classical Greek, or Hebrew, or Arabic, or Catalan section to offer. Until then we want to focus on our supported languages, content, functions, ease of use, etc.. The Beta language issue is at this point just a distraction from achieving our goals.

Ancient Greek and Latin have a wealth of public domain written material available. It's just a matter of finding proficient speakers to record them, I suppose. Unless lingq users are expecting to see Who's She in Ancient Greek. Anyone wanting to learn either of the two (or both) should check out http://www.textkit.com, while they don't appear here at LingQ.

I can only see the activity of my friends and activity is related to LingQs, isn't it? Btw, I'm in favor of Greek (prefer Modern, though).
